Eliminating Harmful Chemicals

ALDI is proud to be the first and only Australian supermarket to make a commitment to Greenpeace’s Detox campaign, to eliminate the use of harmful chemicals that are often used in textile production around the world. We will always do our best to protect people and planet, and to reduce hazardous chemical-based production processes that are all too often used in the fashion and footwear industry.

We are working with our partners and suppliers to eliminate toxic pollution as a by-product of our supply chain. We also regularly cooperate with industry multi-stakeholder groups to affect change across the industry, and in all the countries we operate in. We’re proud to be active members of the Leather Working Group (LWG) and the Business Environmental Performance Initiative (BEPI), to improve compliance, and transparency across the globe.

Oeko-Tex® Certification for Home Textiles

We use the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification system for all our home textiles. The system is a globally consistent, independent testing and certification system for raw, semi-finished, and finished textile products that guarantees our products are free from harmful chemicals.

Some product ranges go further by displaying the MADE IN GREEN certification system from OEKO-TEX®, which provides additional assurances, including the ability to fully trace the entire production process.
