Safety is our priority. This is underlined by our Food Standards Policy that requires all ALDI own label products to be produced to recognised food quality standards.

ALDI supports the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) auditing standards. GFSI incorporates a range of safety standards developed by leading food safety experts in the retail, manufacturing and food service sectors. Compliance with the standards ensures a consistent approach to managing food safety across the food industry.

We also have robust systems in place to manage any incidents in our supply chain that could affect product quality or safety. These include identifying affected products, removing them from sale and alerting customers if we need to arrange a product recall. In the event of a product recall we work closely with national and local authorities to ensure action is prompt and customers are kept informed.

We constantly monitor scientific research surrounding the ingredients and materials used in our products. If new information comes to light indicating that products which were once thought safe are now proven to be hazardous to human health or the environment, we react appropriately and swiftly.

Furthermore we support the following initiatives to ensure the safety of our products:

BPA

Bisphenol A (BPA) is not permitted in products supplied to ALDI that are intended to be used for babies and infants.

Genetically Modified Ingredients

ALDI Australia requires that our suppliers not supply food that is genetically modified nor use genetically modified ingredients and processing aids.

Chemical Testing

As part of our commitment to the health and safety of our customers we test clothing for the presence of chemicals and toxins known to be harmful in clothing including:

  • Formaldehyde
  • Azo Dyes
  • Toxicity
  • Nickel Phthalates

None of the clothing sold in ALDI stores contain these chemicals.
